DIGITAL's Housing Growth Innovation Showcase

British Columbia is facing an unprecedented housing shortage, and solving it requires an absolute shift in how we build. The traditional ways of constructing homes simply cannot match the speed and volume our communities need.

To see how the province is tackling this challenge, Scius recently attended DIGITAL’s Housing Growth Innovation Showcase in Victoria. The event brought together industry pioneers and government leaders—including Minister of Government Services Christine Boyle—to spotlight real, measurable progress from the Housing Growth Innovation (HGI) Program.

The data shared at the showcase proves that industrialized construction is no longer just a future concept; it is delivering results today:

  • Accelerated Timelines: Utilizing prefabricated and panelized building methods is cutting total construction timelines by up to 60%.
  • Rapid Onsite Assembly: Local tradespeople demonstrated this speed by successfully raising a 1,760-square-foot mass timber home in just five days.
  • Lower Overhead: Offsite manufacturing strategies are already driving down onsite assembly costs by as much as 20%.

    These breakthroughs sit right at the core of our DNA. We have long championed the idea that high-performance, low-carbon housing requires a deep integration of technology, smart materials, and highly coordinated supply chains.
